Search teams comb through Pueblo field searching for clues to missing woman
The family of a missing pregnant woman last seen in Pueblo gathered to search for her Sunday afternoon.
More than 100 people came together to help find Kelsie Schelling or any items that belonged to her. They searched through a field near Pueblo Boulevard and Mirror Avenue. They also looked near Lake Minnequa. No items leading to her whereabouts were discovered.
Kelsie Schelling, 22, was last seen in Pueblo on Feb. 4. Schelling's family says she traveled from Denver to Pueblo to meet up with her boyfriend, Donthe Lucas.
Kelsie's family says Kelsie was eight weeks pregnant at the time she disappeared.
"I can't wait to be an uncle. My wife and I are expecting and I just can't imagine raising them together," said Colby Schelling, Kelsie's brother.
Police said they already searched the field near Pueblo Boulevard, but Kelsie's father, Doug Schelling, said police never told him that. Doug Schelling said he's disappointed by the poor communication from police.
"It's always good to double search maybe but if I knew the canines were here, I wouldn't have all these nice people here walking through this brush," said Doug Schelling. "I found out just about when this thing [search] was over."
The family handed out a sheet to searchers, asking them to look for Kelsie's belongings, including her car key and a black rosary that was in her car. None of those items were found during Sunday's search.
The family is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information leading to Kelsie. Those with information are asked to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP
