BLACK FOREST, Colo. -

Hot spots in the Black Forest Fire burn zone continue to flare up, stoking fears of a new fire.

Reports of smoke poured into 911 all day Tuesday, but the Black Forest Fire Department says there are no new fires burning.

Spokeswoman Kathy Russel says flare-ups like these are "part of the process" following a major wildfire, and are completely expected. She says it could go on for weeks.

Still, Russel says the department takes every report of smoke very seriously, and that firefighters investigate each and every report to make sure everyone is safe.

Russel says it's better to be safe than sorry, and that if you see a column of smoke, you should call 911 so firefighters can check it out.
