COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

A Colorado Springs man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury convicted him of killing his estranged wife, who was pregnant at the time of her death.

Andre Jones, 32, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on July 25, 2014.

Lakeisha Jones, 32, was shot at her Colorado Springs apartment on September 9, 2013.

Two days later, KRDO.com reported that Jones was seven months pregnant. The baby was delivered at Memorial Hospital.

An arrest affidavit obtained by KRDO.com in September suggested that Andre Jones was angry at Lakeisha for being impregnated by another man.

The arrest papers said that Lakeisha told friends and family that Andre many times threatened to kill her, her baby and the baby's father.  She believed Andre was stalking her, saying he had installed spyware on her phone and hacked her email account.

Andre's mother, Glenda Garrett, told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that she was upset with the sentencing.

"I'm hurt," Garrett said. "I know my son was close to that family and I feel like he didn't get a fair trial. He was a hard-working man. He worked two jobs for his family. He was always there with his kids."

Garrett said that Andre and Lakeisha had three children together. She said she will now focus on keeping her family strong.

"I'm gonna move on," she said.  "I'm gonna try to be there for the three kids that he has. I have 13 grandchildren and I'm gonna be there for all of them."
