William "Bill" Whiting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

A Colorado Springs man accused of sexually abusing three girls reportedly confessed to police.

William 'Bill' Whiting has been charged with three counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. Colorado Springs police wouldn't discuss how Whiting knew his victims but what Whiting told investigators indicates they were not strangers.

The investigation was launched June 25. According to court documents, a victim confiding in Whiting's wife led to him turning himself in a few hours later.

During that interrogation, Whiting reportedly admitted to touching a handful of girls inappropriately. According to the arrest affidavit, Whiting told investigators that he "touched" them in sensitive areas but never had sex with the girls. Whiting also reportedly admitted to oral sex and masturbation on some occasions with the girls.

According to court documents, at least one victim was abused at the age of 2 or 3.

At least two alleged victims were interviewed by police at the Safe Passage Children's Advocacy Center.

Whiting said he was addicted to child pornography but never took photos of the alleged victims.

Whiting was arrested. His bond was set at $200,000 based on a previous charge of fondling dating back to 1986.

Colorado Springs Police are concerned that there may be more victims. If you have any information that could help in the investigation call CSPD at 719-444-7000 or, if you'd like to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers at 719-634-STOP.
