DENVER -

A Republican candidate for a state house seat is withdrawing from the race in light of reports about his arrest record and ties to white supremacists.

Nate Marshall told the Denver Post Thursday afternoon that he was bowing out of the contest. He had just won the Republican nomination to run for a seat in the Colorado House of Representatives representing Jefferson County.

But the Post reported that Marshall had once been arrested in a Craigslist scam and paid restitution to the victim. It also quoted a group that tracks white supremacist activity alleging that Marshall started an online organization called The Aryan Storm.

Marshall said he was not "hating on anybody" but agreed to drop out of the race.
