A Colorado Springs teacher has been arrested, accused of sexually assaulting a student.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Three Southern Colorado teachers have been arrested on sex charges since the beginning of the year. The latest is at Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs.

Police arrested 31-year-old Mark Moore Friday night on charges of sexual assault on a child.

Moore is a math teacher. His brother and dad also teach at Cheyenne Mountain High School. A student says Mr. Moore is one of the favorite teachers. He thought the arrest was a rumor at first.

“I was like it could never happen to our school,” said senior Al Tareen.

The chatter at Cheyenne Mountain High School involved one teacher.

"I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a hoax,” said Tareen.

Math teacher Mark Moore was arrested Friday night (2/7/14) accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Colorado Springs Police say the school resource officer reported it. Detectives found a probable cause to arrest mMoore.

"You can never expect a teacher who your trust and who you go for help to commit a crime or be accused of a crime as this,” said Tareen.

Mr. Moore is also a basketball coach at Cheyenne Mountain High School. A mom of one of the players didn't want to go on camera, but says she is shocked he's accused of such a crime.

Moore coaches the high school football team, too. Teaching math is a family tradition. His brother, Joe Moore, and their father, Kevin Moore are math teachers at Cheyenne Mountain High School.

"All the students love him. He's also a pretty young teacher. So he has a pretty good relationship with all the other kids,” said Tareen.

Looking at Moore's class syllabus, the first class expectation says, "Biggest rule, do not mess up.”

"It was pretty mind boggling. It was unbelievable,” said Tareen.

Moore is being held on $10,000 bond. He's scheduled to be in court for advisement on Monday.
