A substitute teacher in the San Luis Valley is facing charges of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
Cara Leann Holman, 30, of Manassa, was arrested on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in the parking lot at the Antonito Medical Clinic.
Holman worked as a sub at Centauri High School in La Jara and at the nearby Sanford schools.
The Conejos County Sheriff's Office says it began investigating Holman after receiving a report from Centauri Principal Curt Wilson that Holman had been sending inappropriate text messages to a 17-year-old boy.
Deputy Matt Hinkley was assigned to the case and said that during his investigation, he learned that Holman had been seen going to the 17-year-old's work place in Antonito and leaving with him during his lunch hour.
The deputy alleges that Holman had sex with the teen just outside of the Antonito town limits.
The sheriff's office says that Holman also sent numerous inappropriate text messages to the student.
Holman is being held on $20,000 bond.
