Thieves who have used Craigslist posts to lure their victims into vulnerable places struck again Saturday.
Colorado Springs police were called to the 800 block of Chapman Drive around 5:30 p.m. A man told them that he had been told to come to the address to buy a cell phone. The man told police that as he talked to one man through the door another man came from behind and attacked him.
The two men took the victim's wallet and cell phone before running out of the building.
The victim told police that he had been hit in the back of the head with a pistol. He said both suspects as black men. One man is light skinned, about 5 foot 8 inches tall with a thin build. The other man is dark skinned, about 5 foot 11 inches tall, and also thin. Both were described as either teenagers or in their early to mid-20s.
This is the third time a robbery like this has been reported. All three have been on Chapman Drive, near Fountain Boulevard and Murray Road. The last robbery happened Aug. 6 when a man went to the area to sell an item after being contacted through the website. That man said he was robbed at gunpoint. Another robbery was reported two days earlier.
The Colorado Springs Police Department recommends that any personal transactions with unknown persons be conducted in public locations for the safety of the persons conducting the transactions. Public locations may also provide witnesses or surveillance evidence helpful for police investigations.
