DENVER (AP) -

A day after Colorado enacted an unusual law taking marijuana magazines off store racks, three publications are suing to block the measure.

High Times magazine and two other publications want a judge to prevent enactment of a law that requires stores to place marijuana-themed magazines behind the counter if they allow patrons under 21.

Attorneys for the magazines say no state has tried to put similar limits on the drug magazines, treating them similar to pornography.

Colorado's magazine ban was part of a larger marijuana regulation signed into law Tuesday by Gov. John Hickenlooper.

The magazine portion was added after some parents complained about the magazines being visible to children. The publishers say the restriction goes too far and want it blocked before it takes effect in July.
