One of the most iconic images of World War II, Rosie The Riveter, inspired women to shatter tradition.

Thousands of women entered the workforce, taking over jobs that were traditionally held by men.

They worked in factories, helping build military equipment and tanks.

One of those women, Mary Evelyn Umphrey, heard the call to action, and wanted to help.

Mary says, "I knew there was a great need for people like me to do minute things, you know, something that would help.  But I wasn't running for president, I was working on the tank."

She also met her husband in the factory.

Now at 95 years old, she shares the lessons learned with her kids.

Her advice: be patriotic, get your education and have a family.
