Ranch Day - Colorado Springs
Ever wonder what it was like to be a ranch hand in the 1800's? Cheyenne Mountain State Park will re-live that experience on Saturday, June 8.
Come try your hand at roping, throwing horseshoes and leather crafting. You can spit watermelon seeds, dress up like a ranch hand and make a brand to take home! Sit and listen to cowboy jokes and meet people who ranched on the land that is now Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
Events run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Amphitheater. Plan to come hungry and have lunch to benefit our military community. Proceeds from the food vendor benefit the Wounded Warriors Project.
"Square Dancing with the Rangers" takes place at 7 p.m. at the Prairie Skipper Group Picnic Pavilion. Join us for some good old fashioned, foot-stompin' fun. Don't know how to square dance - don't worry. Lessons will be provided, so come and learn to square dance with the Cheyenne Mountain Rangers.
Cheyenne Mountain State Park is located south of Colorado Springs at 410 JL Ranch Heights Road. Take Nevada Ave. south, which becomes Colorado State Highway 115, to JL Ranch Heights Road opposite the Main Gate One entrance to Fort Carson. Turn to the west to the park entrance. Free Men's Health Screening - Sam's Club
Survey findings have revealed that many men don't see their primary care physician annually, even through preventative screenings can reduce likelihood of some of the most common diseases affecting men. On Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sam's Club will host free men's health screenings in honor of Men's Health Month in June. The screenings are free and available to the public at all Sam's Club locations with a pharmacy.
