When the snow hits the road, so do the tow trucks

Tow trucks say they are twice as busy when bad weather hits

When snow sticks, it seems accidents stack up.  Kevin Thomas with Randy’s High Country Towing says they are twice as busy then usual when there is bad weather.

“When the weather is like this, a lot of people just don’t pay attention with what’s going on in front of them,” Thomas said.

Four different companies are in rotation with law enforcement to help with accidents during weather events.

Thomas and his large wrecker helped to clear an eight-vehicle crash that caused intermittent closures for a couple hours during Wednesday evenings commute southbound I-25 near Baptist Road.

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen a crash that bad,” Thomas said.

The crash happened at 4:38 according to the Colorado State Patrol.  Traffic was finally flowing smoothly around 7:30.

“That was a hard crash and it just goes back to not paying attention,” Thomas said.

CSP reports four drivers involved in the crash were given citations.
