Former NFL safety Darren Sharper was arrested Friday on felony charges in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

TMZ reported that Sharper was arrested on suspicion of rape. He was connected to sexual assaults in October 2013 and earlier this month.

Sharper, 38, was booked into Los Angeles County jail and later released on a $200,000 bond.

He is an analyst for NFL Network, which suspended him without pay Saturday.

Sharper played 14 seasons in the NFL. He played for the Green Bay Packers (1997-2004), Minnesota Vikings (2005-08) and New Orleans Saints (2009-10).

Sharper was a two-time First Team-All-Pro, named to five Pro Bowls and selected to the NFL 2000's All-Decade Team.
