Towson 72, Charleston 57

Senior forward Jerrelle Benimon recorded a double-double, leading visiting Towson to a 72-57 victory over the College of Charleston on Sunday at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.
Benimon finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds for Towson, which earned its fifth win in a row. Benimon led four players who scored in double figures for the Tigers (12-6, 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association). Senior guard Mike Burwell scored 18 points. Senior swingman Rafriel Guthrie had 14, and sophomore guard Four McGlynn scored 11.
Senior forward Willis Hall had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Charleston (10-9, 2-2). Junior forward Adjehi Baru contributed 15 points and nine rebounds.
Towson and Charleston traded leads over the first 10 minutes. Guthrie made a 3-pointer to tie the game at 15-15 with 10:55 remaining, but the Cougars outscored the Tigers 6-2 over the next 1:03 to take a 21-17 lead on a jumper by Baru.
The Tigers answered with a 6-2 run to go ahead 25-23 and stretched their lead to 31-25 on a 3-pointer by McGlynn. Neither team shot better than 39 percent in the first half, but Towson made five of eight from 3-point range to take a 31-29 lead into the locker room at the break.
Towson extended its lead early in the second half and pulled away when Burwell scored seven points in 1:34 to fuel a 9-0 run.
The Tigers shot 42.9 percent from the field overall and finished 6-for-12 from 3-point range. The Cougars shot just 33.3 percent and made six of 20 attempts from beyond the arc.
