AP: Rodriguez sets major league grand slam record

New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez hit his 24th grand slam Friday night, breaking a major league record set by former Yankee Lou Gehrig, The Associated Press reported.
The hit helped New York beat San Francisco, 5-1.
It was also A-Rod's 14th slam with the Yankees and the 654th home run of his career, the AP reported.
Rodriguez is fourth on the all-time home run list, six homers behind Willie Mays, the wire service said.
Major League Baseball in August suspended Rodriguez after an investigation into the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
The league suspended Rodriguez for 211 regular-season games through the 2014 season, but the 38-year-old slugger has appealed.
A-Rod and the other players are accused of having ties to the now-shuttered Biogenesis anti-aging clinic in south Florida and taking performance-enhancing drugs. Rodriguez has denied the accusation.
