Colorado outfielder Michael Cuddyer (kuh-DY'-ur) might not have won baseball's Home Run Derby, but he came close to making the final round.

Yoenis Cespedes won the derby Monday night, becoming the first player left out of the All-Star game to take home the crown. The Oakland Athletics slugger beat Bryce Harper 9-8 in the final round at reconfigured Citi Field, hitting the decisive drive with five swings to spare.

Cuddyer hit 15 home runs in the first two rounds but was edged out of the final by Harper, who hit 16. Cespedes easily made the final round after hitting 17 homers in just the first round.
